Free Stilt Walking Programme for Young People
Ever wanted to walk taller than the crowd?

This summer, young people aged 13β18 are invited to join a FREE stilt walking programme and become part of an exciting performance group: The Preston Astronauts
Across four weekly sessions, you’ll learn how to balance, walk and perform on stilts, guided by experienced performers. By the end of the programme, you’ll be ready to appear at The Lancashire Festival on 25 July, performing two 30-minute appearances as the Preston Astronauts.
No experience needed β just enthusiasm and a willingness to try something new.
Training Sessions
π Oyston Mill, West Strand, Preston
π Wednesdays β 6pm to 8pm
- 1st July β Intro to Stilts & BalanceLearn the basics of stilt walking and build confidence.
- 8th July β Movement & Core SkillsDevelop balance, coordination and movement techniques.
- 15 July β Performance TechniquesLearn how to move as a performer and work as a team.
- 22 July β Dress Rehearsal & PhotoshootPut on the astronaut costumes and rehearse for the festival.

Participants will perform as The Preston Astronauts at The Lancashire Festival on 25 July, bringing a fun and colourful street performance to the event.
You’ll take part in two 30-minute performances during the festival.
